The starting point

Sunday 5 March 2017

5/3/17 Here we sit , in the rain .

Here we are again , family , wedding , & most of the day to day things taken care of . Some good , some not so good ( dentists mainly not so good ).
Health checks are all fine , eye tests were quite good , a few too many visits to the dentist - checkup & clean , a couple of fillings each , and the icing on top - a crown - yet to be completed . Throw in a car service and this has been an expensive couple of weeks .
Our niece's wedding was great , we had a wonderful time , even though I was requested to take some photo's - only took about 230 !! This is what happens when you get the dancing shoes out of retirement hahaha !!

The weekend was special , we had Justin & Taylor and Emma & Mike & Pepper all together again , we don't get together very often , but when we do it's awesome - several days of fun . Then Emma & Pepper stayed on for the rest of the week . Pepper is only a small dog , but she gets under your skin and putting her back on the plane on Saturday was hard , then we had to put Emma on the plane as well , that too was hard .

Back to the blog , we spent the best part of 2 weeks in & around Gerroa , Gerringong & Kiama . There's some shots with the drone as well , taken at Black Head Gerroa .

Some time was spent around Kiama , firstly at Bombo quarry & beach . It's famous for it's basalt columns , and was quarried for quite some time .

There was a banana passionfruit vine at the house we rented for a couple of days , it was in flower fortunately - beautiful flowers !!

Werri Beach at Gerringong has a section of the beach for dogs , Pepper had a ball , it was nice to have Emma with us !!

We packed up and moved down to Greenwell Point for a few days , it's only about 40klms by road from where we were at Gerroa , so it didn't take long to get there . The weather hasn't been the best , with a low pressure system developing off the coast leading to quite a bit of rain . Fortunately it was in showers rather than just constant rain , we did manage to get out to Currarong and Culburra Beach in between showers .
The park at Greenwell Point has a boat ramp and direct access to the water . Many fishing boats & yachts are moored here , there's also plenty of oyster leases as well .

The clouds rolled in and kept on going , the sky was changing rapidly .

The next day saw us at Culburra Beach - not looking too nice .

We headed around to Currarong , and the weather was a bit nicer there . The rocks at the waters edge were interesting - many holes , and some still had a firmer cap of rock still intact on the top surface .

We drove further around town and to the local sea pool , not far from these shots .

The water was crystal clear , something that was reinforced from a few of the drone shots taken from above !!

The ocean pool is a section in between the rocks and is reasonably sheltered from the big waves . It would be great for snorkelling as well .
Just around the corner is a nice little beach .

Here I am , hard at it with the drone !!

Driving around , we found the other end of that small beach , where a small creek trickled out over the beach - it's very tannin stained .

Made for some excellent reflections as well !!

Back to the ute before the next shower came , and drove around to Callala Bay & Beach , before going down to Myola . Myola is mainly a holiday village , with a caravan park and some houses beside the Wollomia Creek . We headed down to the boat ramp , and was pleasantly surprised driving down a fern lined road , above the ferns were beautiful gum trees .

The rain curtailed our drive , so we headed back to the park for the afternoon .
