12/2/18 Not a trial at all

We decided to have a beach day , not your normal beach day though , this one had very little waves or swell , beautiful clear water , sandy bottom and a perfect arc of sand , blue sky and good water temperature . Wandering down to the beach from the carpark was about 150m , then we were there and here it is .

Trial Bay sweeps around from the old gaol and boat ramp right back around to South west Rocks , dogs are allowed on the South West Rocks side , you can also launch boats if you wish , though there is a boat ramp behind the gaol . The beach was nearly deserted - maybe 40 people spread out all over the place . It is reasonably shallow - you can be out 100m and still be in water 1.5m deep !!
We had a swim , got out and walked up to the gaol end of the beach & back , then had another swim down the other side toward town , before getting out and walking back up the beach again .
This is the view of the gaol , there is a campground either side .

This is toward the boat ramp and rock break wall .

The next 2 are looking back toward South West Rocks and the surf club . This view is as good as any other we've seen in our travels - we rate it pretty highly !!

Tearing ourselves away from the beach to get some lunch , we headed around to Arakoon Beach which is on the ocean side . We found a small beach protected by rocks , but could be dangerous to swim at in the wrong conditions , it was still beautiful .

A drive around a bit further took us into a picnic area and a short cliff walk that gave some great views . Pandanus trees clinging to the cliffs with an ocean backdrop - spectacular .

The rugged granite headland looks even more spectacular in close up .

From here it was back to South West Rocks and some fish , salt & pepper squid , prawns & chips for lunch in the park overlooking main beach . We wandered down to the beach to the rocky outcrops , before walking back around the headland and down to Horseshoe Beach for another swim - pretty stressful day !! This beach had waves and - people !! the beach has huge grassed areas behind it as well as a caravan park - hence the extra bodies - if you're picking up on the fact we don't really go much for crowds of people , you'd be dead right !!! Alright , it wasn't that bad , but in comparison to the 1st beach today it was like peak hour . We dripped dry for a while before heading back to the van at another park about 2klms away .
So there you have it , another glorious day in our travels . Here's a map link :- https://drive.google.com/open?id=14AKC30iApW5--uoyz_uKIPzjvWHviXek&usp=sharing

We attempted the same thing the next day , it was much windier , but the beach was protected near the gaol so we just had the one swim there before heading back for lunch and a quiet afternoon , yes it's a tough life , but someone has to do it !!
