On the way into the bay we spotted another Sturt Desert Pea .
Stopping near a couple of boat trailers , we wandered down to water to take in the last rays of the day . The tide was pretty low , when it's on high tide , most , if not all the rocks are under water .
The light on the rocks behind us gave them an orange glow .
The sun sank quickly but left the usual glow .
A friendly sea eagle flew close by as we watched on .
The Woodside Gas Plant was creating a glow of it's own - it light's up like a small town .
As it just happened to be Stairway to the Moon tonight , we then headed over to Hearsons Cove and patiently waited for the moon to rise . The Ammonium Nitrate Plant was not far from the beach .
Before long the moon came up and started the show , not as many people here this month , but still quite a few cars and people having picnics - albeit in the dark .
To continue the theme on , the Blood Moon was also happening a few days later , and as we just happened to wake up at 3am , we thought we better take a look - this was about as good as I could get .
We had a good surprise visit from Garry & Linda again , and they stayed for a couple of nights , so we escorted them around Dampier and Karratha . We managed to see a pod of dolphins at Withnell Bay , found some different rock art that we hadn't seen previously , and found a lot more at Deep Gorge that we'd missed before - it depends a lot on the sun and the angle it's hitting the rocks as to what you can see .
Back into Karratha and around to Searipple Lookout for views from the Burrup Peninsular around to Cleaverville .
Not much of a beach , with a band of mangroves as well , but it gets used by the locals out walking . We managed to see a rather large dark fish jumping out of the water not too far out , must have been chasing some smaller fish .
Our spare time has been taken up with bike riding , reading & relaxing . The weather has been fine but with quite a lot of windy days thrown in , temperature wise it's been cooler in WA than it is normally , with some nights getting down to 8 degrees , but generally around 11 , days have ranged from 22 to 28 , with only a few at 28 .
On another note , we've seen a lot of people come & go over the last 5 weeks , and have seen a lot of strange behaviour . One guy must have been OCD as he was obsessed with cleaning his van - they had been over some gravel roads at some stage , and he washed the van from top to bottom - even the stabiliser legs . Firstly he wiped them down with a wet rag , then he got a toothbrush out and brushed them over again !! He also wiped down the bottom of the van !!! His wife had a bit of a laugh with us about it , and said they wouldn't be driving on any gravel roads in the future .
There have been so many different characters , some will talk to you , others won't stop talking , and then there's the others that go out of their way to ignore you . It all makes for interesting times , you wonder how some of them have actually made it this far across the country , and whether they'll make it home again . Then there's drivers and drovers , those that can , those that think they can and those that have positively no idea about how to reverse their vans - it makes for interesting times watching them set up and pack up .
