30/6/21 Broome

Back to Broome , after Barn Hill we stayed at Roebuck Roadhouse for a few nights , mainly because we weren't sure where we were going - further north , turn back south again or stay ??? Then another option popped up . Emma had broken a bone in her shoulder and was finding it hard to get around her normal days work , as well as getting to doctors & shopping etc etc , so we talked and decided Lyn would go down for a while to assist her for a few weeks - and I would stay up here in Broome . That decided we booked flights to & from Perth , funny , we could get flights any day , but Sundays were the cheapest by almost 50% , so Sunday it was . We'd just done a big shop , fridge was now full & overflowing with food and it's Saturday afternoon , time to get organised for the departure tomorrow . Neither of us were too excited about our new decision , but it was easier and cheaper , not to mention a hell of a lot quicker than driving back to Perth .                                                                                                                                         After an uneasy night's sleep , we organised some food and packed a bag , and organised some accomodation for me for the next week - which was all I could get at the moment . Broome is very , very busy already this tourist season  , so finding somewhere for the other 2 weeks was going to be interesting . Those problem's aside , it was time to head into Broome and put Lyn onto a plane . It was a quiet drive in , neither of us sure of how we were going to handle being separated for 3 weeks , not a problem you say? this would be the longest period that we've been separated for in a very , very long time ! probably about 18 years !!

We got to the airport and had to find a mask , no mask , no entry ! luckily we had some in the ute . All too soon Lyn was boarding the plane and I was left to my own devices . The plane was running late by about 20 mins , so that was going to mess with Lyn's connecting bus & train services in Perth .

I headed out to Gantheaume Point after driving around to the Port , it was time for some fresh air & exercise to keep my mind active . I had the chance to explore a lot of the rocks out on the point , hope you don't mind rocks & pindan red , the combination of colours here is amazing !

Wind , water & erosion have shaped the rocks into abstract designs , shapes , steps etc .

The lighthouse seems to be dwarfed by the rocks here , but definitely isn't .

The tide wasn't low enough to go down and see the dinosaur footprints this time , so I just had to climb in & around all the rocks . Colours change quite a bit in the rock layers .

Then there's the Pindan red layer covering over the top of more rock layers - make a stunning scene with the ocean a stone's throw away . The white sand in the distance is Cable Beach .

Back to the ute for a drink , I headed down to the beach where a lot of the cruise boats start from to find there were already a lot of vehicles down there , just getting ready for sundowners .

This is looking back toward Gantheaume Point from in front of the surf life saving club at Cable Beach

Looking back to where I'd just clambered over most of these rocks

It wasn't too long before the sun was going to set , so I decided to hang around for it , and it didn't disappoint .

Another classic Cable Beach sunset .

That wraps today up , so I head back out to the van for my first night of being by myself . Hmmm
