19/8/21 Discovery One Cruise Day 12

An early start today , 6:30am in the tenders and off up the Roe River while the tide was behaving . The cruise up the river at speed was a bit cool , but the views and reflections made up for it .

We pulled into a creek and headed up to some rocks , and got out . Dried cracked mud covered a lot of the
rocks and looked good .

There was water running down the rocks , and over on the right was a water monitor warming up in the sun .

The walk took us up the creek , crossing it a couple of times before going up to a rocky outcrop where we found more rock art . The creek looked beautiful .

It's the first time we've seen the dot art out in the wild , we've seen plenty on canvas before .

There's also a rock used for grinding ochre or seeds .

Back down the creek and a dip to cool off .

Some red wing parrots were flying around and came to rest in this tree across the creek from us .

Found a grasshopper & a stick insect beside the water as well .

The water monitor was still there and I got to about 3m from it - think it liked the attention .

Back to the tenders and some croc spotting , and it wasn't hard , there were plenty , ranging from 1m to 5m .

There was plenty of scenery to keep you interested .

A few tracks up the mud as well .

Back to the boat after croc spotting and caught a flock of terns in flight .

Here's some of where we've been .

Next stop was Bardi Beach - a swim for some and a rock hop up to some more art sites for those agile enough .

This seed pod got my attention .

Views from up top were amazing , we did have to do some clambering over and around some huge rocks . This spot Lennie hasn't been to in the last 3 years , and that's what makes this cruise unique to the ones before and the ones after - you see different things .

It was getting pretty hot , so we headed down for a cooling dip at the beach , before going back to the boat .

The remainder of the afternoon was spent cruising to our overnight anchorage beside Naturaliste Island . These are the views we have to put up with tonight .

Here's our track log from the last 3 days .

Those who we're interested did some hand line fishing from the boarding deck - sharks were the special today . Jo caught this little black tipped reef shark and Jules managed to catch and release a tawny nurse shark - 4m long !! sorry but no photos of that one .

Sunset was bitter sweet , knowing it was our last one aboard , we got together for a group shot and a crew
shot .

Then we all had another drink or 2 and some dinner , before we went in and personally thanked the crew for the wonderful job they did for us all , tears fell , but they were happy tears . Friendships were cemented , then we sat and chatted some more enjoying our last night .
