12/10/21 Bruboodjoo - 9 Mile Camp

Packing up again , we leave Bullara and head south to Bruboodjoo - also known as 9 Mile Camp . But first we had to stop and take some photos of the wildflowers along the way . Pink Mulla Mulla were everywhere and made a statement in contrast with the termite mounds .

The was colour everywhere , not dense , but the coverage was there and went on for a long way .

    Here's a few of the flowers .

Brooboodjoo is located north of Coral Bay - about 20 kms , and 10 kms from Exmouth Rd . Reports say the road in is corrugated & not to take anything bigger than a camper trailer in , others say it's fine for buses & motorhomes , so we just went for it . We headed down the track and found more pink & green - this is the best we've seen this area look at this time of year , just shows what extra rain does for the land .

Cresting a rise we came across this view down to the coast - the campsite is still 5klms away !!

After driving around to check a few sites out , we selected one and set up . Next the drone came out while the weather was cooperating . Our site is middle left , there was also another area over the dune on the left and more again at the point on the right - they were all taken .

This is the coast to the north and it's all part of Ningaloo Reef.

Water colour here is amazing looking back south toward Coral Bay.

This one looks back toward Exmouth Rd and the track we came in on - which by the way , was quite reasonable .

After some lunch we headed out for a walk on the beach , and a swim . Shells litter the beach , lot's of white , but there are other coloured ones as well .

While we were chatting to a young lady , there was a turtle feeding about 8m from us , it would come up for air every 3 or 4 minutes .

At the northern end of the beach was a rocky headland , turns out it's all limestone and is very sharp where you can walk on it . We also found that there's large shelves of rock that stretch out along the beach in the water . As we attempted to go in for a swim we were constantly walking on rock instead of sand , some of it was quite sharp . We headed back down the beach and found another area where we could get in easier .

Sunset wasn't too far away so we wandered the 15m from the van to the top of the sand dune above the beach .

Next day we headed down the back road to Coral Bay , checking out some of the sights along the way - got some aerial shots as well . This is looking back toward our campsite , we've driven down the track on the right .

This is looking toward Coral Bay .

Just for a change , here's what the country looks like - sand dunes off into the distance and not much in the way of trees , just wind blown scrub - this is what you get where the desert meets the ocean .

After driving through some sandy tracks , we stopped and climbed to the top of a sand dune for views of Oyster Bar and The Lagoon . This is a place we'll definitely come back to .

We continued on to Coral Bay , but that's the next blog , here's a map link :- https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Rxk1KUbQq0R2RsdYTllFmXsf0Ai4DyDR&usp=sharing
