Off to town & Flying Fish Point

We won't trouble you much today , as we didn't do too much . The weather wasn't exactly exciting , with showers from early , to intermittent as the day wore on . The original plan was to got up to Mareeba , but given the weather we decided to stay another day here . We needed to do some shopping , so headed into Innisfail . The road took us through more sugarcane and now , more bananas than we have seen previously .
The roads are not the best , not overly wide and definitely not terribly smooth . As we drove into South Johnstone , it was a bit unnerving , you veer left onto the cane train tracks and drive down over them for the length of the main shopping section - only about 100m - then you veer back over to the right off the tracks again . I was happy the trains weren't running . The photo is when we drove back on the south bound side .

There is a sugar mill here that employs a lot of people ,  and of course the South Johnstone River .
Continuing on into Innisfail we found the road to some supermarkets and down to the North Johnstone River .
Everything done and yesterdays blog taken care of , we headed out to Flying Fish Point for some lunch . Again through cane fields and beside the river , we arrived to a quiet little village beside the sea . Its a little ironic , you have all this ocean and beaches , and you can't swim in it or stay in one place too long in case a crocodile decides it wants you for lunch , or there are stingers present !!!

Lunch done , we headed back to the RV to do a few things before going the 50m to the pub for an afternoon beer at the outside tables under a shade sail , watching the traffic go past - another tough day - might even have to go over for tea as well !!
