20/5/19 Around the cliffs

Our quest for warmth has seen us head to Kalbarri , but it's still a bit cool . Emma and Mike came up to stay for 6 nights to experience what Kalbarri has to offer and weren't disappointed .
A different start to the blog with another sunset - hope your'e not getting bored with them , cause there's plenty more to come .

This is overlooking the estuary from next to the boat ramp .

After playing golf for 2 days , I joined Emma & Mike for a walk along the Bigurda Trail - it's an 8klm walk along the coastal cliffs from Natural Bridge & Castle Rock to Eagle's Nest . It promises to be a spectacular walk and Emma & Mike were suitably excited . Lyn dropped us off after we left Mike's car at Eagles Nest and we started off - it was great seeing the excitement & enthusiasm of Emma as we wandered along .

Views are as you would expect for here - spectacular - and we were getting plenty walking along the edge of the cliffs .

Clouds were starting to form to the west of us , but were heading southeast away from us . This is our lunch stop , a good chance to get the hiking boots & socks off for a bit .

We looked behind us and saw some dark clouds developing , and rain dumping on the ocean , so we got going again to get as far away as we could .

The cliffs kept getting our attention though , and also the colour of the water .

Further up the track and we still had 3klms to go , the clouds getting darker and now also coming after us , time to get moving again .

This was out to sea , we have got some stunning photos from all the storm clouds & rain .

You have to watch your step while walking as it can be very rocky in places - good ankle twisting material !! We looked up , only to see the clouds had jumped in front of us now - we resigned ourselves to getting wet at same point in the walk .

The rain was holding off , with the occasional drops hitting us , we kept heading - 900m to go and some light rain , but nothing serious though .

We made it back to the car without getting drowned - quite amazing given the conditions - more warm & sweaty then damp from rain . As a side note , Lyn took Pepper for a walk down to the inlet and got soaked on the way back to the van , and was not impressed when we arrived drier !

Next day we went for a drive down to Lucky Bay - a beachside camping area not that far from Port Gregory . This is the beach to the north .

This is to the south with Port Gregory and Pink Lake in the distance .

This is the campground behind the dunes , seems you find yourself a patch to set up on and it's yours  for a small camping fee .

Sections of rock/reef feature prominently on this coast .

We headed off back down to Port Gregory and showed them a few other view points of Pink Lake and had some lunch at the beach . From there it was on to the convict hiring centre ruins , this is the view from up the back toward the hills behind - yes another drone shot !
