16/7/24 Lauterbrunnen , Lake Brienze Cruise

After yesterday , we decided to have a day that wasn't quite as busy . But , that sort of went out the window a bit . Up & at em , onto the bus to Interlaken station , then the train to Lauterbrunnen . Clouds were low on the mountains , weren't we the lucky ones yesterday !!

It did rain last night , and with that there was plenty of mist & cloud at lower levels as the moisture was released from the mountain sides .

We went back to Lauterbrunnen specifically to get some photo's of a waterfall . We arrived at the station  and walked across the road - lyn said , look there's a cable car and it's just arrived at the bottom station , so up we went for a look . It took us up to a terminal for a cog train , we had a look around , before going back down to town . The cloud was lifting off the top of the mountains , giving us some different angles of the valley below us , and mountains around us .

This is looking back up toward Mannlichen on top of the mountain and Wengen down below it , where we were yesterday .

Back down to Lauterbrunnen and we could see the spray coming off the cliff face - this is the waterfall we wanted to see .

Back down in town , we wandered up between all the chalet style buildings , hotels & restaurants , before finding a great view of this waterfall - Staubbachfall Waterfall .

Hows the view down the valley past the waterfall - spectacular .

     Here's a few of the chalets .

As part of our Jungfrau Pass , we could also get a ferry ride down Lake Brienzersee to Brienz , then we had a choice of train back , or the ferry back again .
The trip up was interesting , the houses beside the river have there own boat houses as part of their houses - interesting .

Out on the lake , we had stops at four stops along the way , so people could get on & off as they pleased . One stop was to a hotel , it had it's own cog railway to take guests up & down .

Just around the corner from that stop , was this roaring waterfall , and we were only about 30m from it .

This is the hotel & cog railway .

We ended up at Brienz , and decided to stay on the paddlewheeler and ride back to Interlaken , this effectively got rid of about 4hours of the afternoon .
Back to the bus , and then another back to the hotel for tea . Another great day in an amazing place .
