Moving day again , onwards and upwards at the moment , heading toward Darwin . We deliberated on where we would stay , rationalising all the parks , pro’s & con’s - after all that time , we headed back to where we stayed last year - there is grass , a pool , no aircraft noise or highway noise , so it won hands down . The only downside is that it’s 45 klms from Darwin - not a big downfall really as it’s divided road from here in anyway , plus there is Berry Springs .
The drive was only 50 klms , so we were there and setup before lunch . Lunch done , it was into Humptydoo to do some food shopping - it’s the closest Woolworths , and seeing we had frozen stuff , it was our choice . Temperatures in the mid thirties and humidity building - they are saying the build up this year is starting early - the humidity is telling us that also !!
Shopping back & in the fridge & freezer , beer in the waeco , it was time for a swim , so off we went down the road about 4 klms to Berry Springs .
It’s a natural spring flowing out into a little creek and has an awesome swimming area in amongst the pandanus & trees . We parked and were pleasantly surprised with how few cars were there , it is a very popular spot with locals .
The water is that beautiful green and a really nice temperature , pandanus growing down & into the water . I took the waterproof camera for a swim also , and had some surprising results - underwater reflections - I wasn’t expecting that !!! Everything takes on a different theme and alters your perception - beautiful !!
We cooled off , got some exercise swimming , and chatted to various people who swam / floated by . There are black bream and archer fish in the pool , and we found a longtom made an appearance in one of the photos .
I continued with some more photos , reflections from the rocks below the water make for a different photo . Leaves take on a new appearance as well , and the pandanus grows quite happily underwater .
Dripping off , we stood and watched the fish for a while before heading off for some salsa a beer & a berocca to help fend off the mosquito’s , midgies and march flies . Haven’t seen any midgies yet , but I’m sure they’ll find Lyn , they usually do !!
