23/9/16 Around Alice

After a cool night - 9 degrees - we headed downtown to get a parcel from the post office and get a few other things - mainly our bearings around town .
Alice Springs isn't a big city , more a large town , reasonably spread out , tucked into a valley and surrounded by ranges - the Macdonnell Ranges . The Todd River also runs through - well it did last week , after all the rain they had . The southern approach to town goes through Heavitree Gap - this is where the railway , the hwy and the Todd River go through Macdonnell Ranges . Here is the gap from town side .

And from the southern side - from the river bed . The water was flowing a foot deep over the causeway last week !!

Anzac Hill provides a view point over the centre of town - here are some views of town .

This is the catholic church - the roof line and bell tower caught my eye .

The Todd River still has some water in it - here's the proof .

We are going to spend a month here , there's a lot to see and do , so when a blog arrives , it may have a lot , or it may have a little depending on what we get up to .
  Cheers !!
