The one we were told to visit here is The Needles , so here we go . Weather was a bit hit & miss with sunshine , showers & squalls all paying us a visit . We'd no sooner pulled up in the carpark and it started to rain - just a brief shower , then cleared to this view down to the Needles .
This is what it looks like down the end .
It's also home to The Needles Battery old & new - more gun placements . They even tested rockets here at some stage , hopefully we'll get a look at that later .
While Justin & Isla were playing mini golf , another squall approached , so we headed to some shelter and had an early lunch before getting the chairlift down to the beach . Did I say beach , it was covered in rocks !
In our best warm gear yet again .
The other things you can do from down on the beach , are boat rides round Alum Bay and out to the Needles , or just check out the multi coloured sand/dirt cliffs - boy that was a surprise !
At the end of the beach was a series of caves , just for some size comparison , there's some people down near them .
The coloured ground was quite colourful with many different shades .
We headed back up the chairlift and checked the weather , seems to be some more squalls coming , so the battery's will have to be done on a future visit ????
On the way home we stopped on top of the cliffs I wanted a photo of back on day 1, turns out to be the best weather here for the photo's - ironic . The tracks up the hills are public pathways .
We escaped to Newport and hopefully some nicer weather - at least it wasn't raining up there !! Roads here too are a bit on the skinny side with walls either side .
Parked , we headed down the streets checking out somewhere to have an ice cream at . This alleyway was interesting , each round window seemed to be a different shop , and a hotel .
As always , churches are ever present , there's also a pub bottom left haha . There was also a pub that had taken over an old church - go pay your penance for drinking too much and have another while you're there .
Sounds like you're really enjoying the wonderful English summer weather!!!!!!
