After taking care of a few things , we packed lunch & swimmers and headed to Point Peron . There is a snorkel trail there at one of it's beaches . By the time we got there , the tide was on it's way out , revealing a rather rocky & dangerous entry point to get into the water and the trail . After much indecision , I decided I didn't want to risk getting smashed on the rocks getting in , also there was a 4m great white shark not too far from here a couple of days ago !! Call me chicken if you like !!
The coastline here is mainly limestone , making for some interesting rock formations .
We went around the corner to another beach , where we had some lunch . We could see Seal Island - where seals and sea lions hang out - there is no access to this island . The next one down however is Penguin Island , where you can get a ferry across and do a tour , you could also paddle across , or take your boat across there . There are several months where access is limited , so the penguins can breed and raise their young .
We headed around to Rockingham Beach for a swim as the temperature was in the low 30's . On the way we managed to find Lake Richmond - we have been driving near it and around it , but found it today - Lyn has been wondering where it was !!
Parking near the esplanade , we walked across and down to the beach . Without further delay , we went into the water - fairly shallow for quite a way out , then drops off quickly , the water was cool and refreshing . We swam for a little while before getting out and walking up the beach for about 400m to the jetty , turned and came back before relaxing in the shade of a tree in the park .
We drove around to Emma's and chatted for a while , before going and checking out the new house to check on progress .
That's it for today , see you soon .
