10/7/16 Bar to the beach

Moving day is upon us again . After a cool clear night , we packed up and said our goodbyes to Gerry & Beryl - new friends - and headed down to the park in town to empty the tanks .
Leaving Marble Bar with great new memories of awesome rock formations and outback mountain ranges & plains . An uneventful drive with not a lot of traffic till we got back to the highway again .
Rather than go back to Port Hedland , we continued northeast . We weren’t sure where we would be for the night - thinking at first it would be in a free camp , we drove on and filled up at Pardoo Roadhouse after lunch . Pushing on , it was only 1pm , we got to 80 Mile Beach at 2:45 pm . At the end of the 10klm drive down a dirt road we drove over a sand hill and there we were 200m from the ocean , with the beautifully coloured water and sand hills an awesome sight !! We were about 4th in line at the entry gate , then went and checked in - no powered sites available ( they were all full ) . It was surprising to see grassy sites , hedges & trees . We are 10 klms off the highway , nearly halfway between Broome & Port Hedland , so to see grass was amazing !!
We set up in no time before having a beer and cheese & bickies - for no other reason than we could !!
Grabbing the camera , we wandered over to the beach . Walking over the sandhill we were confronted with a great beach stretching into the distance in both directions .

Down to the beach itself and the first thing that gets your attention after the beautifully coloured water & sand , is the amount of shells on the beach . There are millions of them !!!

We left our thongs at the gate , could have used them to walk over the shells !! The sand has different colours and formed interesting patterns in the receding tide .

There must be lots of crabs here as well , judging by the tracks in the sand .

The sun was going down quickly and painting the sky with beautiful colours , the ocean also responding with some great shades of blue . Sorry but here are some sunset photos for you - maybe too many but you can just enjoy them as we did !!!
