Day 2 at Barnhill starts with some warm offshore wind , 32 degrees at 9:30am . The thing that we do know , the sea breeze will kick in around 12noon and supply some relief . Tide is nearly at it's highest point of 9.4m - it goes out to 0.4m !! There's a lot of water moving around out there .
Another metre or so till high tide - not much beach then .
Everywhere you look here , there are contrasts & colours just shouting out at you .
No walking around the rocks on the sand , you have to go over the top .
Mulla mulla are out in flower , bringing some softness to the harsh conditions .
All the rocks here have been shaped by the wind & water , making fascinating patterns .
Time for some aerial shots , here's the northside beach and looking up toward Roebuck Bay .
It's an interesting place to explore , the diversity and the beauty of it is what brings us back time and again .
This is the southern side beach .
Here's the whole of Barnhills campground - the thick treed area is the powered section , the barer area to the left is the unpowered generator section and the section to the right of the treed area is another unpowered section . The homestead is the small treed area above the larger treed section , and you can see the driveway goes off into the distance - about 10klms to the highway .
The section we're in is quite empty at the moment - probably a bit late in the season . You can see the walking tracks that take you to the beach zigzag it's way down the cliffs .
This is down the south side beach , showing a dry creek bed coming out onto the beach .
Further down the south side beach and around the next rocky headland to more isolated beaches .
Pindan , weathered rocks & sandy beaches , this place has it all !!
And the view of it from the water - or above it at least .
Sunset and we're flying again , golden glow on the rocks and beach .
You may have noticed , the tide is out and approaching low tide - big difference .
The pindan cliffs glow nicely in the late afternoon sun .
