29/9/22 Barnhill to DeGrey River

Leaving Barnhill today we struck a few things that we hadn't seen for a while , mainly all this cloud . Nothing to sinister in this you say , no not really , it's just very rare for this much cloud to be here at this time of year , then again this year has been anything but normal weatherwise . Turns out this cloud band is the start of the large rain event that will hit all across the country !!

There were strange patterns in the clouds , almost like lattice , then there were lines of cloud below the main layer .

The further we went the darker and more stormy it got .

Fortunately it cleared for a while , till we got to DeGrey River Rest Area and it closed in again . Made for interesting sunset .

We had rain later in the night , enough to wash the dust off the ute and van , but nothing compared to what you've got in the eastern states from this system .
This is the De Grey River and bridge .

Beyond the tree line is the large rest area , hwy on the left , and us down on the right . We caught up with some friends , they went fishing here yesterday and caught several fish and a 1.2m bull shark !!! Not bad when it's closed off from the sea .

This is looking to the east , with the railway bridge - it hasn't been in use for years , and used to go out to a mine - it will probably be back in use sometime in the future though !

We headed into Port Hedland and caught up with our friends Gary & Linda , for a weekend of chatting and good times . Here's a map link :- https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1qGCKyq2LKfriKWLDe1e1H0n6-mhge1I&usp=sharing
