All round Narooma

First things first - checkout where we are writing the blog today !!!! Right beside the entrance to the Wagonga Inlet .

Hi there ,  after a cool night , we had breakfast and did some washing - okay boring bits over . We hit the road back into Narooma and went to the boardwalk on the northern side of the bridge - its only 350 m long , but took quite some time to go to the boat ramp and back . Firstly , the water quality again is awesome , crystal clear and full of fish - from 20mm to 450mm - mullet , whiting , bream and some wrasse , not to mention the  2 octopi that were doing battle for the rights to chew on a marlin head . The marlin head was in about 4m of water beside the fish cleaning tables - it was one of 2 marlin that someone caught & diced up .
All the time they were fighting , there was a lot of other fish waiting for the scraps . While we were watching this , along came a stingray - apparently they call this place home - not a small stingray either - it was about 6ft or 2m across , then along came another , then another , there were 5 cruising around that we saw !! They were cruising up to the cleaning table - obviously where they get a feed or 2 . We spent about half an hour just watching the marine life - it was like being in an aquarium .
I had to drag myself away , otherwise we could have still been there .
We had decided to go for a ride today - on the cycle track that goes from Narooma to Dalmeny - yes , that was where we drove yesterday - for those who read yesterdays blog . What a great ride it was , a nice sea breeze keeping the temperature just right . By the time we got back it was 12:30 , so packed up to find somewhere beside the water for lunch . We took a turn up the northern side of the bridge to the west - a deaden but with some nice looking houses and countryside to check out . Back to the riverside park for lunch 2m from the water .
Lunch done , it was time for a drive on Tourist Drive 4 which took us west then south and finally back to the east - 27klms around Wagonga Inlet . The drive was predominantly through Bodalla Forest , which is full of spotted gum and rainforest . There was a lookout over Narooma and Montague Island , that was worth the drive by itself .

The landcruiser came into it's own there also - made a pretty good viewing platform from the back to get you a bit higher over the trees growing up in front of the lookout .
There was also a rainforest walk - 30 to 45 mins to walk down then back up in a loop . There were some enormous spotted gums in there - up to 40m tall .

We continued on , the gravel road was in good condition and gets used regularly . Finally arrived to the western side of the inlet to find a floating pontoon looking out over oyster beds , picnic tables and plenty of room to park . More winding road through some amazing forest - now with stringy barks , grey gums and some ironbarks as well - they reminded me of the forests near Coolongolook , and the road like Comboyne Mountain ( but not as steep or rough ) .
Arriving back to Narooma we picked this spot - cause we could !!! There were also some seals - one sunbathing on a rock , and 2 others just rolling around in the water beside - having a ball .
That's it for today - time for a beer . See Ya
