Paddling up the Clyde

Hello to all our interested readers , We haven't moved very far today , with the tide nearly on its high mark , we decided to go for a paddle up the river seeing as it was so close - 20m away . We paddled up the river before the outgoing tide kicked in , so that after we had gone far enough we could use the tide to assist our paddle back . We went up the river a couple of kilometres , then crossed and went into a smaller creek or backwater for about 500m or so , then came back to the park and went up the creek that runs down one side , up as far as we could go .
The paddle up the river was a scenic run beside towering spotted gums and Burrawang Palms , then we spotted what we think is an young sea eagle , that landed on a branch near us . He / she kept a close eye on us , and didn't let us get any closer than about 20m .

The water temperature was quite warm and would have been quite pleasant for a swim . The water was also dark , but quite clear - you could see the seagrass beds and sandy bottom in the creeks and backwaters , there were also lots of fish - ranging from little ones to 300 - 400mm , darting about the sea grass and sand .
We arrived back at the park after a couple of hours , and went about washing the salt water off - it's great having toys , but you have to look after them !!
Lunch done and some little jobs taken care of , we headed into Clyde River National Park for a great view of Batemans Bay .

We sat at the lookout for a while to do todays blog and catch up with emails etc , as we don't have reception at the park .
Spotted gums and Burrawang Palms in background
That's it for today - time for cheese & bickies & beer .
