1/4/16 Sharks in Denmark

After 5mm of rain overnight , we awake to an overcast sky , no bother it's pack up and hit the road again . Today we are off to Denmark , no , not the one that's thousands of kilometres and requires a flight , this one is about 65 klms away toward Albany !!
We had been told the road is windy and up & down and not good to tow on - must have been a different road they were talking about !! This one had a few minor bits , but mostly it was good road , the surface undulating a bit , but otherwise good .
We left Walpole at 9:45 and arrived in Denmark at 10:45 , checked in and set up by 11:30 , did some reading , had lunch and went for a drive .
Ocean Beach is about 10 klms south of Denmark , and is where Wilson Inlet meets the ocean . Denmark River flows into Wilson Inlet and Denmark is on the banks of the river and amongst karri forest . Ocean Beach has a surf club and a boating and angling club house , and is situated on a bay .

On the far side of the bay is a ridge line that stretches off into the distance to the southerly most point of WA - West Cape Howe .

From the rocks , people were fishing - balloon fishing  , there was one guy pulling in something big , it turned out to be a 3m grey nurse shark !! It got a bit of a hard time on the rocks , and they couldn't get it on land , so they cut it off and let it go .

The next photo shows the rock where they caught the shark , the surfers catching waves weren't that far away from the action !!

We checked another couple of lookouts then headed west to Light's Beach . It was a bit wind swept and angry , with waves crashing on rocks .

We headed back into Denmark to have a look around the river and town . The river runs right through town snaking it's way out to Wilson Inlet .

There is an old rail bridge that's now a walking /cycling bridge - they are big on bike tracks here , with a cycle track from town all the way to Ocean Beach and others alongside the river as well .

We followed the road around the inlet and found a 4wd track to Poison Point , so went for a look - the view is across the inlet toward Ocean Beach .

From here we headed for the park for some cheese & biscuits and relaxing in the sun - it has finally come out to warm us up . We were joined on the grass by these 2 parrots , with another 5 just up a grassy bank .
