10/9/17 Polish on , polish off

Thursday & Friday saw us washing & polishing the van , 1st day was the roof & back wall , 2nd day was the drivers side , 3rd day was the other side & front . It was hot on most days , so we limited ourselves to how much we did .
Our friends watched over the work , this pair of rainbow bee eaters .

Off to Atherton to do some shopping , check for our mail & refuel in Mareeba . On the way through Tolga , we noticed  a sign to Bones Knob , so off we went . Bones Knob is a hill , albeit a long hill , but it promised some great views from Atherton to the north of Tolga , some of the hills we've been 4wdriving through and also the 2 highest mountains in Queensland - Bellenden Kerr and Bartle Frere.
This is the view toward Atherton .

This is the view across Tolga toward Mt Edith .

Bellenden Kerr is just to the right of the power pole and Bartle Frere is to the right .

This is the range to the west .

After shopping we headed out to Tinaroo Dam for lunch , overlooking the dam wall .

There are several Bottlebrush trees beside the lookout , and they were popular with the birds , here are some of them .

The road that we drove down the other day that led us to Mt Edith , also was supposed to take us to the dam wall , so , we found the road on the gps and headed back toward Mareeba that way . The road followed the Barron River for a while , then Tinaroo Creek . The road deteriorated , so 4wd was required , we had washed out wheel ruts , rocky creek crossings and also a sign that said No Through Road ! We kept going though , finding a few other tracks to investigate after finding that indeed the road was closed by a locked gate after we'd driven about 18klms !!! After reversing back up a trail so we could turn around , we stopped at the creek crossing for a time out . Reflections were amazing !!

We drove back out , deciding to not take any more side tracks along the way . There was a bonfire back at the park tonight , so we headed over . It was 29 degrees through the day , so the fire wasn't required for warmth until the sun went down . It was good for getting rid of some old tax papers however !!

Here's sunset .

Saturday came , so I headed off to play golf , having a good game , could've been better , but still played to my handicap so that was good !! Todays sunset wasn't too bad either !!

Sunday was spent catching up on some reading , a few small jobs , and relaxing . Here's a map link Cheers :- https://drive.google.com/open?id=1q8VbXgU4U85IgOhA37Q78JOZX0c&usp=sharing
