18/9/17 Millstream part 2

  Unsure about what to occupy ourselves with today , so we revisit Millstream Falls . We were here 2 years ago and had forgotten how much water was flowing over - so here's the 2 comparison photo's -

 This year


 That was a surprise to us , but also reinforces how dry it has been up here !!! Here's another I played with .


 The water is cascading over basalt columns from a lava flow , this is the pool below .


 We found an old track down to the top of the falls , the basalt columns create steps in the cascades above the main falls .


 There's a steep wall on the edge of the creek , it's actually more basalt columns .


 These columns are smaller than the ones we've seen down in NSW , but are still 6 sided columns .

  Drizzly light rain was starting , so it was time to go , and that's our day again .
