6/2/24 Walpole & Deep Rivers , Mt Clare & Conspicuos Cliff

Okay , another day and another drive around the place , not far out of town the highway crosses the Walpole River . It was very still with some great reflections , so we turned around and checked it out .

Todays destination was Mt Clare - with the promise of great views from the top - hmm heard that before but we'll go anyway . It was a 2klm round trip through some more forest , plenty of big trees and undergrowth . It was a pleasant temperature and a nice shady walk for most of it . Here's part of the walk trail .

Yeap , another small tree - only about 50m high !!

We found the top of the mountain , it's a rather large chunk of moss covered granite . The views weren't bad , but binoculars were required to get a closer look at things . The trees & shrubbery were starting to get a bit high as well , which doesn't help .

The walk up Mt Clare is part of the Bibbulmun  Track - which is a walk you can do from Albany all the way to Perth . There's also the Munda Biddi Track , which is a bike trail that also goes from Albany to Perth if you're keen and interested - oh did I mention fit & healthy as well 🤣
From the summit , we headed back to the carpark and had our picnic lunch before going further bush on another adventure . We found there was a Deep River boat ramp , so decided we'd have a look . Here's another aerial shot showing Deep River and the entrance to Nornalup Inlet from the ocean .

This is Deep River winding it's way down to the inlet . The boat ramp area is middle of photo .

Finding another track we ventured along it , taking us around & along beside the river , until we found a suspension bridge which is on part of the Bibbulmun Track over the Deep River . So we've done a little bit more of the Bibbulmun Track !!

Another track took us around the higher reaches of the river , then looped back around below Mt Clare again . The track had been blocked in the past by a tree falling across it , it was only a small tree though - the ute will show the size of it !!

After coming out of the forest , we decided to change it up a bit , we headed for the coast . Conspicuos Cliff was the spot and definitely didn't disappoint . Here's the view from the lookout near the carpark , from there the track went onwards and mainly upwards to a whale watching platform and another lookout.

This is the other lookout .

And this is the view fro the whale watching platform - old mate was on hand to give a size comparison for us - isn't it great how people do that for us 😂

This is the beach , with a freshwater creek running into the ocean

There was a bit of water flowing as well - pretty good spring putting out that much water .

And that was it , another day chock a block full for us , time to go back home and relax with a cold one !! Here's a map link :- https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1o7aIkFYsLlZVhr-z15WIqOwJ3RhH6iQ&usp=sharing
