Up with the birds again , but ignored them as best we could till 7:30 . Today we are off to Mirima NP , not far away , we probably could have ridden the bikes - about 3klms from the park - but would have been pretty hot on the return trip .
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe the country up here , with amazing views round just about every corner .
The drive in takes you to the payment stop , it’s $12 per car , $6 if you are a senior !! , we paid $12 and drove in - it’s probably the smallest national park we’ve been to and the walks also not terribly long - there is a 400m loop track with another 400m lookout track , a 500m return track , and a 1.2 klm track back past the entry gate .
This park is nick named the little Bungle Bungles , as it has domed rocks , orange & black in colour , similar to the Bungle Bungles .
We took the lookout track first , climbing up rocks & stairs to get on top of the ridge on one side of the valley , giving us views across & down the valley . The shapes and weathering of all the rock leaves amazing patterns in the rock .
Green spinifex grass and the blue sky gave great contrasts with the orange & black of the rock .
The rocks are very fragile on top and there are warning signs to let you know , there are large slabs of rock that seem to be ready to slide over the edge .
The wind and sand erode away some of the rock and leave great patterns & small caves .
After completing the walks we head back down the street to get some gear & food , then head back to the RV for lunch .
We look at brochure after brochure , trying to decide what to do & where to go . There are so many different tours that you can do here - helicopter flights , plane flights , bus trips & boat trips . We finally decide on a sailing cruise on Lake Argyle , we get picked up at the park , driven out to the lake , go to a museum , go for a cruise , have lunch & afternoon tea , go for a swim and check out the sunset , before getting driven back to the park - easy , no driving - got to be happy about that !!!
With that paid for , we head off for a swim , relax with a beer & salsa and then wash the dust off the RV , another tough day at the office !!!!
