Moving Day 31/8/15

After an ordinary nights sleep ( due to a coughing fit on my part ) we were awake before sunup , laid in bed listening to everyone else make a racket while packing up . Nothing left to do , but get up and make our own noise !!
Packed up and tanks emptied , we headed down to the chemist for some medicine - they’d had 5 customers before me , and 4 out of the 5 wanted something for a ticklish cough , even the 2 girls behind the counter had the cough as well !!
Down to the auto electrician to get the electric brake controller tested out . After a couple of hours of fiddling & testing , they decided the control unit was buggered - they didn’t have a replacement , but organised one at Broome , and an auto electrician to change it as well - all under warranty - cant get better than that !!! Didn’t cost us a cent , just a few hours of our time !!
Finally we were on the road and heading south , then west to Broome . We passed through a lot of the same vegetation as previous days - burnt trees , grass & boab trees , occasionally going through a section where the trees looked like they wanted to be there - they had new growth and there were a lot more of them .
The road was a shocker , wheel ruts from trucks/ road trains , uneven surfaces , lanes sloping off to the side , you were continually readjusting where you were on the road . It was only 211 klms to Broome , but it felt like 500 !! , or maybe that was just the way we were feeling after last nights lack of sleep .
We stopped for lunch , then Lyn took over , her thoughts on the road and the drive were pretty much the same as mine .
After a bit longer , we’d arrived at Roebuck Plains Roadhouse & caravan park , we’d had enough for one day and booked in for 2 nights .
Fortunately for us it wasn’t as hot today , only getting to 29 degrees before we left Derby , and then only 28 degrees at Broome . There was a wind blowing for most of the drive - a head wind - we are just not used to that - it wasn’t really a problem though , we just kept cruising along .
After setting up we just sat and chilled out for a while before having a swim to refresh ourselves .
Cheese & bickies were called for and we chilled some more - no radio or tv out here , makes for a quiet time !
Here’s some photos from yesterday - Barramundi Farm , tidal mud flats & mangroves and some of the coastline .
