Ute service & a bit of exercise 4/8/15

Awake before the birds today , we had to be in Palmerston at 7:30am to get the ute
serviced , so we got up at 6am - still bloody dark !!!
It was nearly cold !!! got down to 17 degrees , nearly had to put a jumper on , Not !!  Mind you it reached 31 degrees by noon , 33 at 4pm !!
We drove through some mist on the way to Palmerston , that was a bit weird ! We made it by 7:25am and unloaded the bikes , the ute was all booked in , and off we went . The ride was taking us down to the lower section of Palmerston , fortunately all of it was on bike tracks , as the roads were all fairly busy . The surface of some tracks was bitumen , and it felt like someone was holding onto the back of the bike , riding wasn’t easy . Then we found some concrete and it was so much better , it didn’t feel like riding through glue anymore !!
Stopping after 10klms , we sat at a park near some small lakes - we were in Durack in a subdivision that backs  onto Palmerston Golf Course . It was only 8:30 am !! Could be a long morning !!
There was a flurry of activity with 2 mowers going crazy and another 4 men with grass trimmers all trimming happily away . We did a loop around a couple of the golf fairways - it is a really nice suburb , just down the hill from Palmerston and beside Charles Darwin University .
The lakes have water lillies in all of them , with beautiful crimson flowers , there was also numerous birds - Ibis , Snake Necked Sneaks , Kakadu Ducks , Rainbow Bee Eaters and numerous small birds .

Lyns front tyre decided it would go flat , I couldn’t find a puncture , so put it back together , and went to pump it up , slight problem , the flexible tube at the end of the pump was missing a couple of important bits - the non return valve , and the valve depressor , making it impossible to pump anything up !! Time for a walk and push , untill we could find another . Repco would have one , nope , the bike shop was another couple of kilometres away , so away I went to get one . Arriving back to where Lyn walked to , we checked for punctures again , but still couldn’t find any , ah well , put it back together again and pump it up and see whether it goes down again . The ute was ready to be picked up , so we headed back round to Toyota , paid some money and loaded up & headed off .
Into Bunnings quickly for a grease gun & grease , before going back to the lakes again for some lunch .
Off to do some food shopping , fill up with diesel , and head for the hills . Back to the park , we unloaded everything , before getting into the swimmers and going down to Berry Springs again for another swim in the crystal clear waters .
It was the quietest we have seen it , and was great , there were still about 50 people there swimming , but there was so much more space for everyone .
Cooled off , it was salsa & beer time .

Another one bites the dust !!!
Afterwards we applied some grease to the kingpin and hitch , loaded up the kayak and had some tea .

Tomorrow we will head off to the south - we may have some internet or we may not , stay tuned !!
Here are a couple of photos from yesterday , taken with the phone camera .
