Moving day , up at 7:30 , starting the process again . It’s not getting boring , quite the opposite - we look forward to seeing more new places .
Chatted to one of the neighbours for about 5 mins - always happens when you are packing up - checked and pumped some air into the van tyres , hitched up and away we went - 9:05am .
Pulling out of the park the smiles started again , we have enjoyed Darwin and surrounds , the sights & sounds , the history - we will be back here again !!
Onto the highway south , we cruise along into a slight headwind that doesn’t really bother us a lot. The turn off for Manton Dam appeared , so we pulled off and drove in . Manton Dam was the original water supply for Darwin , but is only used in emergencies , now its used for recreation - fishing , skiing , jet skiing , canoeing and swimming - there are areas separated for these activities to keep everyone safe ! The only one we had to share it with was the ranger mowing the picnic area , till a couple arrived in a small motorhome .
Back to the highway , it wasn’t long before we pulled off again , on to Batchelor . We found the dump point beside a beautifully kept green cricket field / oval , and emptied the tanks ready for the next 3 nights at Banyan Tree Caravan Park . We will use that as a base for exploring Litchfield National Park .
We were set up without any dramas , then settled in for lunch , it was only 12:15 . Lunch done , we did some reading and cleaned out some of the used & abused brochures & maps we no longer need - lighten the load a bit !!
We have a nice shady spot here , and you could tell , outside the temperature was 33 , but was a lot cooler inside , felt 10 degrees cooler !!
The washing was dry in about an hour , so we brought that in before going over to the pool to cool down . Before much longer it was cheese & bickies & beer time .
Monday , Wednesday and Friday are sausage sizzle nights at the park - at a great price too - $ 0 !!
We wandered over at 6:20 pm , got a drink and sat down with another couple from Narrabeen , and another from Forster , then later another from Gawler - north of Adelaide . The sausages were pretty good , pity they were on white bread , but it was a good price !! We all compared notes on what to see and where to go , before checking the time - 9pm - now where did that 2 1/2 hours go ???
