As per previous blog , we woke to an overcast sky and the odd shower - we don't do rain and showers , what was the weather thinking ?????
Anyway , continuing on for another 60 odd kms , we arrived at Cockelbiddy Roadhouse for some fuel and a leg stretch . Around from the roadhouse is a huge caged area , with 2 resident wedge tailed eagles , Samantha and Bruce , don't get up on the soapbox just yet - these two were rescued after being hit on the highway and injured as youngsters , so probably wouldn't survive without someone bringing them their food now . They wouldn't have survived their injuries if left in the wild .
They are really a magnificent bird of prey - I have memories of being attacked by them when I was flying my hang glider - it had the scars to prove it as well !!!
Onwards eastward , next stop was Madura . This is where the road drops down Madura Pass to the coastal plains below - you go from about 50 m above sea level to about 13m . this coastal plain goes to the horizon and ends at Eucla at the eastern end , not sure on the south western side of it though .
Yes , another day down , getting a bit more exciting now as well - big things are coming . Here's a map link :- https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1aqGGNt6HWh2-cILBxO1BSq8GIWkLO5T-&usp=sharing
