18&19/8/16 A short trip

Up with the birds again , today the van was having a wheel alignment - booked in at 7:00ish . Packed & hitched , we headed into town and reversed into the shed . The guys there usually do wheel alignments with the wheels off , and were scratching their heads till I proceeded to lift the whole van off the ground with the jacks - they were impressed !!!
We forgot to return our gate key last night , so went around and got our refund at 8am . The lagoon beside the Pump Shed Rd was looking impressive .

Next on our list was to climb up Kelly's Knob . It's on the northern edge of town and there are 2 lookouts - one with a 40m walk beside the carpark , the 2nd is 1.2 klms from the carpark and is a climb all the way to the top - fortunately , if you climb it in the morning you get to have shade for the worst part of the climb !!
The 360 degrees views are terrific overlooking town and Mirima NP , the irrigation area and surrounding mountains .

The Kapok trees are in full flower at the moment , with the blooms the size of a tennis ball .

There was a wattle tree also in full bloom , as we climbed to the top another wattle tree was in flower and had a very potent heady scent .

The phone rang as we were heading to the top , the guys doing the wheel alignment rang telling us it was ready to go - they couldn't adjust the toe in as there was nothing to adjust it with !! After checking out the views , we went back down and picked up the van and moved to our new park 2klms from where we were - talk about a long drive !!
After setting up and relaxing for a while , then lunch and a swim in the pool , we went down to Lilly Lagoon which is at the edge of the park - about 40m from us . We had reflections and wildlife to greet us . There was a Snake Necked Heron , a Jabiru ( or Red Leg Stork ) and a fresh water crocodile with very few teeth !! The colour in the Jabiru's feathers is quite amazing !!

We watched the sun go down behind us and the colour on the hills in front of us change .

19/8/16

Not much to report today , we shopped , swam and not much else . This afternoon there was a singer & guitar player down beside the lagoon , that filled in from 4:30 to 7:00 pm . As a bonus we got to see the full moon rise over the lagoon .
