7/8/16 Still here

Today we said goodbye ( temporarily I'm sure ) to Paul & Karen , they are heading to Derby .
After taking care of a few things we headed into town with the aim of getting to the beach that sweeps round from Town Beach to the freight jetty . The golf club is situated on the top of the dune above the beach .
Finding the road in had some luck , but we'd found it . Wandering down the path to the beach was impressive - they have a plastic decking on the sand , making it very easy to walk down . There is about 5m of sand , and then when the tide's out , there's about 20m of rock shelf .

In the rock are fossilised shells . We walked along till the sand started again and reached another rock shelf , before turning and coming back - we'd only gone along a little piece of the beach . There was a bit of wildlife about , when we were walking along the sand there was a small stingray swimming alongside us as we walked , only a metre off the sand . It would have been about 1m long from head to tail .

Just after turning back 3 pelicans flew past over the top of the dunes .

The red cliffs & orange sand looked great against the blue / green water  and blue sky .

Back to the ute and off toward the jetty , and found another track into the hovercraft tour depot . Off that was a road that led around to a new carpark and walkway down onto the beach .
We wantend down the new staircase leading to the beach , the staircase has been built into the red dirt. Down on the beach are some of the rocks that are widespread here - multilayered , multicoloured weathered sandstone rock , quite impressive .

From this beach we gained access to the red cliffs - they are over 2m tall and have another layer of sand/dirt on top that is orange in colour . The colours are amazing here in the Kimberleys .

The beach even takes on a pinkish tinge when viewed from low on the ground .

The jetty isn't far away from here , unfortunately there isn't any access to it for the general public !!

Time to try the local fish & chips for lunch - Bluey's Fish & Chips was the one we chose , going for a piece of barramundi and some calamari & chips . We headed back to Town Beach for a shady grassed spot to eat it . Let me say , we weren't disappointed , it was great - ordered 10 calamari and got 12 !! There was enough , without being too much - both of us were happy with it !!
Back to the park and off to the pool for some exercise and to cool off - that's not a problem up here , the pools all are cool - some very cool !!
Another fairly casual day , time for a relaxed beer & salsa .
