Eagle Bluff 13/10/15

Change of pace today , we slept in till 7:30 , did breakfast , then time to clean up the kayak & paddling gear and defrost the fridge . In between jobs we looked out over the water , to see manta rays swimming past - we saw 6 during the morning !!!
That done , we needed to shop , out the gate and direct left into the supermarket , we are right onto it ! Down the road to the bottle shop , beer purchased , it was back for lunch .
All the chores taken care of , lunch over , we headed out to Eagle Bluff , about 25 kms south . The drive was nice and quiet , and the wild flowers seem to be out a bit more than when we came into Denham .
We reached the turnoff and headed in the clay & sandy , freshly graded road - it was like a highway . The road took us out to the coast again , up to the top of the bluff . We got out and was surprised to see a walkway on the edge , it leads up to the high point and has views up and down the coast . The highlight for us , is to be able to see stingrays , manta rays , sharks & dolphins , schools of fish and vast seagrass beds !! The water is crystal clear , you can see everything !

 Stingray & fish

Manta Rays
As we observed the wildlife , the wind continued to pick up , getting to the point where your hat would end up in Broome if you didn't hold onto it ! Back to the ute and headed around the bluff on the southern side , giving views over the next bay , several more stingrays and some more manta rays. We walked around the bluff , looking down at the rock shelves in the water , the sand bars and the amazing patterns .

We headed back , calling in at a small lagoon for a look .
Back in town we jumped on the bikes for a bit of exercise - riding down the street and along the waterfront and back again . Then to top it all off , we went for a walk down the beach , checking out all the different shells . We also picked up some aluminium cans and other bits of rubbish that were lying at the waters edge .

Time for salsa & beer . One of our neighbours dropped over some whiting he had caught yesterday - there's tomorrow nights tea !!!
