Some more gorges 15/10/15

Today saw us drive to Kalbarri - only about 1 hour away from our stopover at the Galena Bridge . People were packing up and going early today , we were awake at 6 but ignored the noise and got up at 7:30 .
Fed and packed , we said our goodbyes to Ian & Chris - and gained another place we can stay when we are back in Queensland - Thankyou & happy walking !!
Our drive into Kalbarri was amazing , the wildflowers we started seeing yesterday , were magnified , many thousands of times - but that's the theme of the other blog for today - smelly socks !! It's an unfortunate name for the Smelly Sock Grevillea !!
After setting up and having lunch we drove back out to Hawks Head Lookout and Ross Graham Lookout in Kalbarri National Park . Both lookouts are beside the Murchison River , and are accessed by bitumen roads .

Our parks pass is coming in handy again , $12 per car entry fee saved again !!
We drove back in to Kalbarri to a lookout - Meanarra Hill - it has extensive views over Kalbarri township and the surrounding landscape , it was getting very windy , enough to blow a dog of it's chain . Here's the view over the town .

After being blown back to the ute , we headed back into town and checked out the river access , so when the wind drops , we could go for a paddle .
From there we went to Chinamans Point - a popular fishing spot and a lookout over the entrance to the Murchison River and the Indian Ocean - with a very mean looking bar to get through to go out to sea .

We watched as the fishermen tried to catch some whiting - the were two big schools no more than 20m from the edge , as the lures were thrown out near them , a lot of the fish would get spooked and leap out of the water .
On the ocean side is a rather rocky beach - not ideal for swimming !!
Today has been the coolest day we've had for a long time - only getting to 26 degrees - the howling southerly is keeping temperatures down .
 Back for salsa & a beer .
