Hard Slog 20/10/15

Waking to another sunny day - with little or no wind , we decided to go for a paddle in the Murchison River . After getting the washing out and loading up , we headed down to the river and unloaded & slipped into the water , heading to the east . There was a slight breeze that we had to paddle into , but we figured that while we are now paddling into the wind , it will be at our back when we return .
The water is a bit murky and the river wide , making the views okay , but not extraordinary . The water also isn't very deep except out in the middle , so we were well away from things .
After a while , we decided to head back with the wind . The plan was to go back and across the river and go for a walk on the beach on the northern side of the river . Plans don't always work though - the wind decided it would swing round to the southwest and gain strength - so that meant we had another paddle into the rather strong wind - it also started to push up some swell , not too high , but we aren't terribly high in the water , so we were hitting some waves 600mm high - made for an interesting paddle !!
We paddled and paddled , going alright into the wind , but when you stopped for a bit of a rest , you found yourself going backwards , so you don't rest !! We had gone about 3klms up the river and felt like about 6 klms on the way back , and our plan to go across the river was shelved rapidly !! Back to the ute finally , we loaded up and went back to the park to clean everything up , happy to be out of the wind !!
Bbq lunch and a swim after lunch was called for , then not much more for the day . It was too wet to get the camera out in the kayak , so no photos today , Sorry !!
We tried a new batch of salsa with the chilli's we got in Carnarvon and have now dried , and they have a really nice bite to them , it usually intensifies with age , so it will be interesting to see how hot it gets .
 Catch up tomorrow !!
