Sports Day 17/10/15

Up at 7:30 today , a bit of a sleep in . We decided to go for a ride as the wind had backed off , or so we thought . We rode down to Chinamans Rock and then down to Blue Holes - a section of beach in a no fishing zone , good for snorkelling they say . The bike track extends further down the coast , not sure how far yet , we stopped and turned around as it was getting windy again . It helped us ride back up the hill .
We stopped to have a look at the Zuytdorf Memorial - it was shipwrecked 60 klms from Kalbarri in 1712 - quite a few years before Captain James Cook arrived in Australia . The " Batavia was shipwrecked in 1629 , there were 2 more ships also wrecked but their names escape me at the moment . There are good views from the memorial .

We watched as a boat came back in over the bar , it had 1 attempt , but turned and went back out , before trying a 2nd time - successfully . It's a strange entry back into the river - you have to come in towards the rock shelf , turn right and race the waves in - speaking of waves , they run in all directions here . They run in toward the beach , then turn and run back along the beach toward the   river , and also turn and run back into the waves coming into the beach !!!
From here , we went down to the carpark below , before riding back to the park .
I was playing golf at 1pm , but had to be there before 12:30 . The walk around the course was nice , shame about the golf - but in my defence I haven't picked up a club for 6 months - I had to remember what to do !!
Lyn took care of some chores , had a session in the pool , and went down and got some things we forgot yesterday .
That's it for today , not much more to report , but we can't have big days everyday !!
See you later!!
