Leaving Karijini 15/9/15

A cool night , getting down to 13 degrees , we dragged the sleeping bag out to use as a doona at 3am. Up at 6:45 and into pack up mode , we were gone at 8:15 but had to stop and sort out the brake controller again - this time the 12 pin trailer plug . To be fair , it has had its fair share of Kimberley and Pilbara red dust & dirt to contend with - one piece of advice - get decent plugs !!!
Back out to Karijini Drive , we turned right and headed toward Tom Price . The views of the mountains in the Pilbara were outstanding .

Mt Bruce
We drove alongside Mt Bruce for quite a way - it is the 2nd highest mountain in WA , at 1235m . This area is above 700m asl , and we got up to 840m on the way to Tom Price - WA's highest town at 747m asl !!
We drove through a vast valley between Mt Bruce and the southern edge of Karijini NP , before climbing over the range , going down toward Tom Price .

The drive was quite easy , the wildflowers are still out , some fading away , but new ones coming , today the wattle is starting to come out more .

We arrived in town at about 10:15 , finding the caravan park and checking in . Not a cheap exercise over here , they all charge between $40 & $56 a night in WA so far , no wonder a lot of people try to free camp as much as they can .
The technical issues I have had with the computer have resolved themselves - bloody clever computers these days !!! So that filled my afternoon in , catching up with the blogs for the last 3 days, Lyn went & did some shopping , before we wandered around the park . There is a tree that is out in flower at the moment - not sure what it is , but has nice flowers .

The other notable for Tom Price is Mt Nameless - funny name for a mountain - but it has it's claim to fame also - it is the highest mountain in WA that you can drive to the top of !! and it's just behind us at the park !!

The views from the top are supposed to be excellent , we will see tomorrow .
Time for some salsa & beer !!
