30/8/22 Victoria Daly Region

Leaving our gravel pit , we head into Katherine for some fuel and water , before driving off to the west on the Victoria Hwy . It seems like there's a rest area every 20klms , so we stopped at one - Limestone Creek Rest Area . It has toilets and a dump point , spoiling ourselves haha !

Next morning we remembered why we prefer gravel pits to rest areas - a lot quieter , much more peaceful . We were the 2nd van in , and there were another 15 after that !

The conditions this morning were a bit hazy , from fires all around the place , so we drove down to the next rest area and emptied the tanks , got some aerial shots , and headed off again .

Further down the highway we stopped again to get more aerial shots .

Time to head further down the road , we're not in a hurry because we have to use up all our veggies and fruit before we cross into WA , and we have it planned for 6 or 7 nights to the border from when we left Darwin .

We'd forgotten how scenic this section was , once you get past Delamere , and start going down into Victoria River . There are hills & escarpments , the river , and it just keeps getting better . This is getting closer to Victoria River .

The hills here are slightly blacker due to recent fires .

We'd reached our stop for the night , just before lunch - you guessed it , another gravel pit !! That's it middle left of photo . The road to the right takes you back to Katherine .

And this one also to Katherine .

This is looking toward Victoria River - about 20klms away .

The clouds built up during the afternoon , and were a bit of a nuisance for our solar . It's the first time our solar hasn't fully recharged the battery - it has been working very hard though - 36, 37 & 38 degree days makes the fridge work very hard , using more battery power - but it handled it well .

  Another beautiful sunset .

The moon even made an appearance in this shot .
