Leaving Darr River , we head further west toward Winton , starting to get out into the Mitchell grasslands - great grazing country , and especially at the moment . Wildflowers are in abundance as well.
Caught up with these guys again , cruising along at 60kph - he's a bit rugged up !!
More widespread flowers .
Making it into Winton , we set up at a caravan park , and headed out for a look around . This is the monument for the Old Winton Town Site - got a bit wet during floods , so they moved the town to higher ground .
These next 2 photos show where it was , and the river !
Old Winton was at the middle left of photo and Winton as it is now at the top .
Budgies are everywhere here at the moment .
Even some of the weeds look interesting.
Couldn't resist getting this photo !
Just next door is the Winton Golf Club , here's the first hole tee box .
One of the older houses in Winton .
This is where the railway terminates at Winton , very civilised covered platform .
The line out of town .
School mural .
This guy was our neighbour for the night , so I asked hime what was happening - they are on the Brisbane to Broome Rally and there's plenty of them - it's going to be a hot and trying drive for them - at least we've got air con & windows 😉
Sunset over the machinery museum vehicles .
