2/8/22 Camooweal

From our free camp , we head to Camooweal - only 12klms from the NT border . There's not a lot at Camooweal - the next photo shows from right to left - General Store & PO ,  Fuel Station and the hotel .

There's another fuel station on the western side of town - about 300m from here ! and another caravan park . There'a also an assortment of other houses & a mechanical repair shop .
This is the Town Hall , an impressive building , built with verandahs and shutter windows , and up on stumps above the ground .

It was going to be warm again tomorrow , so we decided to camp out at the free camp for a few days .  This is our view of the water - Lake Canellan , Georgina River - about 4klms out of town .

And here's the view from above , we're that white van 😆 the small one !

This is looking back at Camooweal , which can be seen left , just above the river.

Given the amount of clear water that's here , the birdlife is quite plentiful , here's some of them . A Snake Neck Heron and it's smaller cousin

We think this one may be a Little Eagle . It broke a small branch off while we were there and took it across the river to it's nest .

Snake neck Heron again , with a different friend this time .

Whistling Kites - plenty of them !

   A pair of Nankeen Kestrels

A pair of Brolga - there were ususally 3 . There were also plenty of galahs , corella's , cockatiels and a few cockatoo's . Probably a lot more we couldn't see on the other side as well , there was a Jabiru ( Black Necked Crane ) , and a black swan , ducks , diver's & cormorants .

The next couple are sunsets on different days .

Then these 2 , are sunrises on different days .
